Article ID: 000005834 What is the problem? Unable to install the AHCI or RAID driver using the F6 installation procedure because the system does not have a floppy drive. How to fix it Use one of these methods to resolve the issue: • Attach a USB floppy drive. You might need to enter the system BIOS and set the USB emulation mode to floppy. If your USB floppy drive is not recognized, try a different USB floppy drive. • Create a bootable copy of the Windows* setup disk that includes the RAID drivers. This procedure is called slipstreaming.

Rerun the setup with the slipstream version. Downloads: Related topics.

F6 Ahci/Raid Drivers Download

Hi all, tonight I've fitted a new WD 320gig Black Scorpion hdd into a new hdd caddy, I've been trying for 3 hours now to load winxp. The BIOS lists the 320gig hdd. I have the sata driver on a floppy (downloaded tonight) WinXp starts the install, I press F6, winxp loads some more and asks for the sata driver, I push in the the floppy disc and press enter (theres 4 drivers in the download I tried all 4), Xp loads some more then informs me that it can't find a hdd.AAAARRRRRR The only thing I can find is in the BIOS under: Security Computrace Sub Menu Sub Menu: Protected Comptrace Bios Module: Disable Would these settings stop winxp from installing the sata driver.

Hi All, thanks for the replies definitely more awake this evening, the install continues, I had downloaded the correct driver pack (F6flpy32. The Jimi Hendrix Experience Winterland Torrent on this page. exe file) and copied to a floppy Last night after pressing F6, I could get to section 4 of the Toughbook clean install instructions, then when 'Windows Setup (section 5) appears it shows 4 drivers in the window (there are more hidden but required scrolling to show, which I didn't realise at the time, hence my statement of 'only 4 drivers all of which I've tried'. Anyway back to tonight: Floppy in A: usb lead plugged into correct usb port (same one as last night), WinXP disc in CD/Rom in MP, start computer, winxp starts to load, press F6, winxp continues to loads to (section 4), press 'S' as stated, section 5 appears. T/B's clean install instructions use 'Intel(R) 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller(M, on my CF30's screen I have a box with 4 drivers listed which are the ones I tried last night. I didn't see the others listed which require scrolling the driver list. Now theres a BIG BUT, the 'Intel(R)82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller' isn't listed at all.

I have never had to choose a controller for the hard drive in ANY installation that I have done EXCEPT when I installed a RAID array. You should NOT need to plug in anything into your USB unless you are booting from a USB DVD Rom. What I would do. Press F2 at start-up. That puts you into the BIOS. Arrow over to the EXIT tab and then arrow down to 'LOAD DEFAULT VALUES'. F10 - save - exit.

Press F2 at boot again. Make your DVD the first bootable device. Make sure that your XP disk is loaded in the DVD drive. When it comes up PRESS F6 TO LOAD DRIVERS.

It will keep going and start loading XP. There WILL come a time where you will need to 'agree' to MS' agreement and you WILL need to push F8. It will offer you formatting options and then partitioning options. But other than that I think you are getting stuck in a spot you don't even need to be in. Make sure that you have your COA ready from the bottom label of your Toughbook (Hopefully you do not have a Vista COA) so that you can enter that when called upon to do so.

Or you can get a Recovery Disk. I also have an MK1 CF-30 so I have an extra. PM me if you are interested. I'm getting ready to leave on vacation so it may be next week before I can get back to you.
